Well after much debate with my solicitor BF - who thinks its a trick question! and therefore NO. however I say you can asue its his dead wifes sister he wants to marry (right)?

Oh yes it certainly is legal. I have chap in my family tree who married two of my great aunts who were sisters as one died. This occured in the 1940's and 1950's.

Absolutely, it wouldn't be incest or bigamy so it's not a legal issue. Might cause a lot of family conflict though, imagine your fave Aunt suddenly became your Step Mum? Weird!

I think you may be referring to the former prohibition upon a man marrying his deceased wife's sister, memorialized in Gilbert & Sullivan's "Iolanthe": "He will prick that annual blister/Marriage with deceased wife's sister."
This was illegal in the UK until 1907, but is OK now.

This question well illustrates the need to use correct language and grammar etc. Some people are reading it as it actually is and answering thus correctly. Some are reading it as they think it is or are assuming it is and are incorrect.

Yes it is allowed, and it was actually quite common place a very long time ago. Especially when a husband died young, which was also common place then.

It really doesn't matter coz if she's his widow then he must be already dead! I assume you realised that and wanted to see if anyone fell for it!

I my be way off the mark here but that is impossible.
If it is his widow that means he is dead so unless you believe in long distance relationships it isn't possible.
