The American Revolution took place in many different areas of the original 13 colonies. It didn't happen in one specific area, but across a region.

We residents of New Jersey take pride in calling our state the crossroads of the Revolution. After losing the Battle of Brooklyn Heights, in New York, Washington retreated slowly, fighting rear guard actions, down New Jersey. He crossed the Delaware (the first time) into Pennsylvania, where he wintered at Valley Forge. On Christmas Eve/Day, he crossed the Delaware (again!) to fight the Battle of Trenton, (the present capital of New Jersey) where he took all of the Hessian mercenaries prisoners. The Battle of Monmouth in Eastern New Jersey involved the greatest number of pieces of artillery on both sides of any battle of the revolution.
