i think it typifies adolescence in a way, most people who are wild teens grow up and become responsible adults (like me! though i wasn't THAT wild!) though it seems almost like an epilogue, an afterthought. but it does give more weight to the stance against that sort of modification to behavior.
i still haven't decided if i liked the ending of the book or the ending of the movie better.
