I don't know why anyone would do it. I personally think it's disgusting myself and it doesn't look professional or good in anyway. I'll just stick to having my ears pierced (only twice) and keep it to that.

Women make that sacrifice because it makes oral sex much better. The cool feel of the metal mixed with the warm tongue gets very exciting.
Your girlfriend may have done it as a fashion statement or as a sign of rebellion, but the original purpose was to improve oral sex.

I'll bet she is sorry now for having her tongue pierced. My daughter had her tongue pierced two different times. I called her stupid for having it done. There is no way that I would even want to have my tongue pierced. Only my ears are pierced. I was told that it's a sexual thing when someone has their tongue pierced.

I got my tongue pierced when I was 18 because of peer pressure and it made me feel cool. I know it really sounds stupid now....
BTW to the guys.... girls don't get their tongues pierced just to give BJ's. That is why guys are drawn to girls with their tongues pierced.
