I'm interested in how many people of faith understand the psychology behind their need to believe. Do you believe in God with the understanding that the belief itself is the force behind the power?

well gods have been believed in for a very long time, the force behind the power is belief, iv though about this and i let it go not because it's not possible but that my vision of a god, goddess or which ever term you prefer is all around me and in me, i can touch it, taste it, live it, your right tho maybe, but then are you not projecting a view of nothing in place of something the hardest thing for a nonbeliever to touch, is a believers truth, if only we all could swap shoes once in a while we'd be much richer

But what's the force behind the belief. I don't believe in blind faith. I believe in weighing out the evidence and making a sound judgment. Atheism requires a certain amount of faith; i.e. that everything came into existence from nothing.

The evidence of a perfectly working, harmonious universe is just one example of the evidence for a creator. Another is life. What are the chances that non-living matter would develop into life?

My faith in a creator does require some faith, but it is faith based on reason, not a need.

there is not such thing as "people of faith". Everyone has faith, does not have to be in God, but everyone has faith, even the people that dont worship any God, have faith that they are right, except their faith and the power within it is channeled to a different source. Yes you are right, faith is what really matters, thats why long time ago they would pray for an onion before going to bed.

I dont think one should confuse faith and religion or religious association.

Despite the importance of spirituality, ignorance is bliss.

I'll be surprised if you get a reasonable answer to your excellent question. But, good luck from a practicing agnostic.
