I make the beds daily in my house. I used to live by te same idea. But I like how my room feels finished (I straighten the whole house every day). It takes two minutes out of my day. My hubby thinks it is more romantic, the sheet isn't bunched down at your feet making you sleep uncomfortable all night long. It is nice to have a smooth place to fold laundry, give little ones naps, and I like to have the confidence that in a few years from now I can tell the kids to make their beds and them do it without complaining. I think I just realized I graduated into MOMHOOD. *OH NO*

If you are not concerned with neatness, there's no need to make your bed. In fact, if you don't make your bed on a regular basis, I've read that it's a good idea to pull the covers back to air out the sheets. This kills any bugs that hide in beds - Yes, unless you wash sheets daily you will have skin shleffing off of you which will then attract bugs. But, even if the rest of your room is spotless the room will look messy if the bed is unmade.
I make my bed nearly every day because I enjoy a neat and peaceful environment. Also, if I have time, I turn down the bed coveres early in the evening if I happen to be up there for some reason. It's like they do in good hotels. (I don't put a mint on the pillows though!) Later when you go up to bed, it looks so very inviting.
Also, my bed is an old fashioned style, high-bed. It's height is a perfect smooth surface when it's made for me to sort out laundry paper work and match socks on.

there is no point, if you don't care, however if you like the feeling of going to bed in a bed made you should do it for you. A made bed is nice, think about it if you were to check into a hotel and the bed wasn't made would you still sleep in it? And besides Martha said so.....

i guess its entirely your opinion i usually make my bed to make my room look nicer but when i do make it i don't do it all the way i just do it so i can can still sleep in it but it still looks presentable.thats another reason, if your new boyfriend just came over to see your house and he saw a unpresentable bed he might now have different feelings for you but as i said it is entirely your opinion.
Hope i could help,
JKT

I understand where you're coming from!
But it's *so* nice to fall into a cosy, tucked up, made bed at the end of the day. And it only takes a couple of minutes in the morning.... :)

to me its the same point as why wash your car especially if you live on a dirt road? its just going to get dirty the same day or for sure the day after. so its all a personal choice as you've seen everyone has a different reason to make their bed. whats yours?

An unmade bed makes the entire room look unmade. It looks much better when the bed is made!

Oh but the whole room just looks so much nicer; especially if you have a nice comforter and plenty of pillows!

Don't really know what the point is, but I think it comes from all those years of your mother driving it into your head.
