Yes it is legal if it is a Company van - however if they are monitoring personal use it may not be.

I don't know if it is legal but it is out of order,i am a service engineer and when we had them fitted the company had to inform the union they were fitting them, also the union informed us that the company had to inform us the engineers if they was going to get a tracker report on us.It may be a good idea to speak to the union rep if you have one,my tracker kept blowing up for some strange reason!Hope this helps cos there is nothing worse than being spyed on.

The company I work for in my civilian job recently added GPS trackers to our company vans....their vans, their insurance, their right to do so.
And the one writer that mentioned lower fuel consumption by some vehicles....same thing happened at my company! The guy that yelled about it was found to be using the company van for personal business use, and driving to another state on the weekends.

Yes it is legal because he will say he is tracking his vans not his staff. We have had trackers installed in all of our vans (6 of them) and it is amazing how much fuel has been reduced and funnily enough the staff who made the most fuss are the ones now using far less fuel. Mmmm I wonder why??

Totally legal. I'm actually considering doing this with my moving trucks once our business grows a bit more.

You shouldn't be concerned about it as long as you aren't goofing off in the van.

Yes. That's not spying. That's controlling and tracking one's assets. It's no different than taking spot inventory in a warehouse.

It's his van. He has a right to know where the van is at all times. If you are on the clock, he has a right to know where you are too.

When you work for an employer, you are on the COMPANY'S time....not yours.

If the van is company property, then they can leagaly track the vechicle. But if it is your own vechicle that you use for work then then it is intrusion

Well it's his van so he's in titled to know where it is.
If he told you he's having them fitted then he's not spying on you.
