I'm an artistic, spirited, humourous, creative, deep-thinking, writing-loving, art-loving high schooler. I have a nightmare: spending the mjority my working life sitting in a cubicle working with numbers and the like. Oh, numbers. How I detest numbers and the math they always drag along with them.

My dream would be to work happily in a career/job that is highly creative (40% or more, niave maybe but I'm just hoping)...and also pays well (more than ~40k) in not too much time (without relying on too much luck). I do NOT want to work with anything related to super-traditional artwork, like painting. I've been thinking of graphic design, but have been scared by the fact that I may still get stuck in a cubicle, staring at the computer screen, moving the mouse around all day with not much hope for anything more since I'm not much for freelance.

So I ask, what would you say is the overall highest paying, most DIRECTLY creative career? This is includes writing of course. And any other advice

Well first of all, you are a very intelligent high schooler! I don't know of many high schoolers that have as much poise and maturity as you do! I can just tell by the way you speak and how you are thinking of the far future way ahead of time. To answer your question, I would have to say an architect would be highly creative and highly paid, and they are very well respected. Graphic designers get paid a little less depending on how big their clients are. Another one you might not think of is being a business owner. You get to choose pretty much everything and design how you want it to look and run. That's my dream. If you are into fashion, you can become a fashion designer, they make pretty decent money. Makeup artists also do pretty well. If you like hair, you can become a hair stylist (but not at Saturday's, something more upscale). If you like cars, become a car designer. It's really all up to what you are into. You can find a creative career with any business. Figure out what you like, and apply it to something you would like to have as a career. Good luck in finding something you love and I wish you all the best.

Film?

The video game industry needs talented people to design characters and stories.

You may not like math, but getting to a working relationship is not a bad idea - compound interest is a beautiful thing.
