i recently downloaded a file from limewire which had a very long name like "ice age 2 mmeltdown, very good quality dvd player required to view......" which spread over 2-3 lines.
as Win media player was the default player in my system, the file downloaded as a media file, when i tried to play it it dosent open, i tried different players even latest filters like AC3.
now the file not only dosent play in any player, but it occupies 750 mb of space on my hard drive. whats more is that it dosent get deleted. when i right click on it it dosent have the delete option. any ideas of how to get rid of it without formatting my hard disk,, will be of great help.

That size file is usually divx. You can downoad it at divx.com. It will include it's own player and the codecs for Windows Media Player.
Try restarting the computer. You usually can't delete a file because something is using it. Media Player is probably failing to shut down all the way when you try to play it.

Highlight the file and press SHIFT + DEL that should bypass the recycle bin.
