Crocodiles are much more aggressive than alligators.Saltwater and Nile crocodiles kill more people and can bite a human in half and take down prey over 1000 pounds.

Salties:
Length= Males are 15-16 feet and Females are 8-10 feet.

Teeth=1-3 inches

Bite pressure=3900 pounds

Armor= Has thicker skin than a hippo, pigs, buffalo, armor plates are as hard as rocks and their skin is much thicker than 5 cm. Head is as hard as steel.

Weight: Males 1500-2000 pounds and Females weigh ?

Food Items: Saltwater crocodiles can take monkeys, wild boar, dingos, domestic livestock, water buffalo, sharks, and humans.

Speed: On land slow and in the water 15-18 miles per hour on top speed.

Intelligence: While crocodilian brains are much smaller than that of mammals (as low as 0.05% in the saltwater crocodile), they are capable of learning hard tasks with very little conditioning. Crocodile calls hint at a deeper language ability than currently accepted. Saltwater crocodiles are smart, clever animals that can learn faster than lab rats and dogs.

Saltwater crocodiles (salties) are very aggressive and can kill an American Alligator with little effort.

Most crocodiles are more dangerous then alligators.
A 12 foot crocodile will most likely kill an 13 foot alligator.

Even if the alligator is bigger, the crocodile will be more dangerous!

OK lets settle this. Alligators are primarily turtle and fish specialists. MOST Crocs feed on land animals that approach the water to drink. There are exceptions as their are far more species of crocs than alligators and some crocs like the ghariel are strictly fish eaters and are extremely specialized for such a life. Therefore alligators are generally less dangerous than crocs. However an alligator will still take an unwary land animal like a human. Respect them! Now as for size. It depends on both the alligator and crocodile you are talking about. American crocodiles andalligators both can reach over 20 feet. Salt water crocs can be slightly larger as can Nile crocs. Other crocs are smaller as is the chinese alligators and all the caimans which are an alligator relative.

Here goes.

Alligators are not responsible for nearly as many attacks as crocodiles. Because of their smaller adult sizes (12 feet is huge for an alligator, while niles and salties can reach over 20 feet.) Alligators do not look at people as food items. Yes, here in Florida there are thousands of alligator complaints every year, there have only been 20 human fatalities by alligators in 57 years. Compare this to 300 fatalities YEARLY by the Nile crocs in Africa. You're talking about animals that take down wildebeests and such, they look at us and say "Oh, look, no horns or hooves, it's not too fast, and I'm sure it can't swim too well either....."

This holds true UNLESS you are in Florida. We are the ONLY place in the world with alligators and crocodiles, the American Crocodile is responsible for 1 recorded death since europeans came to the area. This occured during surveying (I believe for U.S.1) in south florida. One of the surveyors had a camera, the other had a rifle, the one with the camera said "Hey, there's a croc, kill it and I'll take your picture with it." It wasn't dead. That's the only reported crocodile fatality in Florida.

Anyway, there you go. I hope I helped.

Alligators are more laid back, I think. If crocodiles weren't the most dangerous then Steve Irwin would have been the Alligator Hunter instead. Crocs, danger, danger, danger!

crocodiles are much more dangeress. they are much larger and they are not as likely to run away from humans as alligators are. Although the only types of crocodiles that are known as man eaters are the nile crocodile, the mugger crocodile, and the black caiman But i really think you should stay out of the way of all of them!!!!
