Adjustment will take time, but remember the positive side and it will become quicker for you to do it.
You lost a Country > You have a new Country to discover
You lost friends > You have many more to make
You need to see it for what it is > a challenge. Life is what you make it wherever you are!
We used to move around Britain every 3-4 years and left good friends behind, although it wasn't a foreign Country unless you count Scotland and Wales. The accent and use of English changes more than people realise and can take some time to get used to. The only thing I knew would be the same was the type of weather. We soon made new friends and were luckily able to stay in contact with some of the old. I didn't look on it as starting over but as just our particular way of life! Good luck in your new way of life!

I wish I knew the context. People leave their countries for many reasons.

Some people leave their country voluntarily to go somewhere else and thereby lose their country and friends. There is a period of adjustment, especially if one has never been away from one's own country before. The length of time it takes depends a lot on the person if the new country is hospitable. A person can lengthen this time by perceiving everything from one's own eyes, like a college student I once met in Japan who said, "I can't live in a country where I can't eat Wheaties for breakfast."

Another reason people leave their countries is as refugees. This would be a much more difficult situation, particularly if one must live in a refugee camp. Can one adjust to life in a camp? People do, although they would never accept the camp as permanent.

There can be many other reasons for leaving. How one adjusts will depend greatly on the circumstances. Perhaps you could explain them in a bit more detail to get a more concrete answer.

What a distraught question....I almost came close having an experience like that in Germany and in Bosnia & Herzegovina. It's horrifying to be in a perdicament like that, not knowing the languages of those countries either. The only way to start over is by doing what most do when there's only one option.......start looking for people who are willing to help. Show yourself friendly, think fast, watch your back, have tough skin, and become hustler out of survival.

forge a document that states you are deceased, change your look completely, have a local dentist willing to accept under the counter currency with out proof and papers to augment you teeth and jaw. Burn or sand off your fingerprints. go to a swap meet and purchase your new identity and passport. Finally, Flee the country.

Well aside from your country and friends, you're still you. Look to your desires and interests. Respond with curiosity to things that draw your attention and inspire you. You are always you, but who you identify yourself as changes every moment, whether you notice or not. Embrace change, make it yours, make it deliberate, and express how you feel about the changes you make in whatever way you wish.

I think a good place to start is your faith community (if you are religious). If not, volunteering is an excellent way to meet decent people that can become life-long friends.

Life is full of new beginnings. Nothing remains static. You can make new friends, new family, and a new life. All takes time and investment. You have to be willing to risk sharing of yourself to others.
