Community Colleges usually offer courses in auto mechanics. You will have to check with them to see if they offer degrees in it, though...as some schools offer an Associate of Applied Science in mechanical type fields.

Above all, get a lot of experience doing work on cars...doesn't matter what kind. Then, when you get experience under your belt, try to get in with a racing team...just realize that you won't go to NASCAR right away...you will need to work yourself up and get a reputation.

If you have a race track near you, go down there on race night some time and try to meet some drivers. The local tack here (Oregon) gives a lot of acess to the drivers of the cars.

You're going to college for that? Why not just go to Pennco Tech or a place the advertising during the Maury Povich show and then try to get some kind of internship with one of the drivers?
