The only difference I can see between a 14.1 inch screen and a 15.4 inch screen is 1.3 inches. I would suggest sticking with the 15 inch screen, thats as small as I'm willing to go.

But honestly its a matter of personal preference, I'm sure you're going to save a bundle with the 14.1 inch screen VS. the larger screen.

Pick whatever you are comfortable both with viewing and spending money on.

I have a 14" screen and I never thought it was that big of a deal, but looking at laptops with even 15.4" screens, they seem to be so much bigger. I don't think that 14.1" is TOO small, you get used to it. But if I had the chance to go back and re-purchase my laptop I would have chosen one with a slilghtly larger screen. Especially if you are going to be spending a lot of time on it, bigger screens are better.

There's actually a good difference, especially when you're talking about screens those size. Every inch helps. However, most people are fine with 14.1, it really depends on what you're using it for.

14.1 is still a big screen and would cost less but if you have enough money i would go with the 15.4 screen.

14.1" is to make lighter and smaller laptops so that they are more portable and easier to take with your in your backpack. the 15.4" is for desktop-replacment laptops, it is for those people who want to buy a laptop to replace your desktop computer, so you won't be moving the laptop around very much and will mainly stay in the house or in one building and once in a while it will be taken from one room to another. 15.4" laptops are heavier but they have (sometimes) more computing power. (most of them are cheaper as well)

I have always used 17" CRTs, at the moment I'm using a 17" wide screen on a laptop, everything else seems either to small or to big.

It can be kind of hard to see things at the standard 1024 x 768 resolution on a 14" monitor.

to me there is not much difference at all. the measurments are diagonal so keep that in mind. you might try going by a compusa or best and viewing both screens if you looking to make a decision.
