He taught me last year, but not right now anymore. However i was still taking course in his department and by his collegues, does that mean that he still has some indirect power over me? because when i asked him out he said he need our relatinship to remain professional, but he said i am a lovely woman and enjoys talking with me when i visit his office.... he is 32 and single and i am 21, he just been in our university 2 years, he is an assistant prof now
but i guess even he is not my prof now, it is still bad for his reputatioin and these things are frown upon? so i should probably wait until i leave school or not taking course in his faculty anymore ? also, does he sound he is interested in me?any possibility?

Most universities would seriously frown upon any relationship between professor and student as a violation of ethics, and as an exercise of very poor judgment.

An assistant professor who engaged in a relationship with a student would be jeopardizing his chances of getting tenure.

Since I was not present during your conversation, I have no idea whether he is truly interested in you or not, but I do know for sure that beginning any type of romantic relationship with you while you are still a college student would demonstrate a complete lack of sense on his part.

I think that he was very gracious to let you down easy. It is difficult for a teacher to be close with a student, so please understand that he cannot get any closer than this.

Teachers need to be careful not to show favoritism or personal relations in school. You can be friends until you are finished with school, then you can ask with a clear conscience.

That is the "ethical" way to proceed.
