Make sure the nipple is the correct stage for his age. If not, it could be coming out too fast for him. Also, try to feed him before he gets overly hungry, so he does not gulp down the formula (easier said then done in the middle of the night though). I know it's scary, but just remind yourself that it's liquid so it's not permanently blocking his airway...he will ultimately catch his breath. Have the suction bulb nearby just incase you need to help him out. My daughter chokes from time to time on her spit up because she has reflux. I know what you mean, it's scary!

You can start be regulating his feeding. Don't let him chug his bottle, maybe change bottles. It could be that he is getting too much air with his liquids and needs to be burbed to help with his breathing. But I think step one is making sure he isn't feeding too quickly. Take the bottle away if necessary and only let him have a little at a time. It will take a lot longer to feed him, but a lot less horrifying for you. You also should consult your doctor.

Babies should be at easy and relaxed while drinking from a bottle.
This simply means ur little one is too hungry so regulate his feedings and give him a bottle before he gets extremly hungry.
If u r feeding him every 4 hrs reduce the gap to 31/2 hrs

This is the scariest thing ever. My son is 17 months and still gets choked really bad on his juice. I usually pat him on the back and tell him to breathe. I don't think that's gonna do you much good since your son is only 3 months old. You should ask your pediatrician.

First, fear is a normal, healthy reaction to many situations. The two you cited are perfect examples of times that fear is a good thing. Believe it or not, most folks do not notice a little tremor in your voice...and chances are they get scared by many of the same things. Your fear is only a problem if it is getting in the way of your normal life. If that is the case, you might want to talk to a professional therapist to help you figure out what is causing you to be so afraid.

take the bottle away, reposition him, pat his back like you would if you were burping him-- he will catch his breath. my 2 month old does the same thing. if you notice him getting "carried away" with drinking too fast, try to catch it BEFORE he loses his breath and ease the bottle back a little so he can catch his breath on his on and learn how to pace himself a little.
