1. 97 - 19 = 78
78/2 = 39
39 + 19 = 58
58 + 39 = 97
So your numbers are 58 and 39
2. 2 x 2 x 2 = 8
3 x 3 x 3 = 27
5 x 5 x 5 = 125
6 x 6 x 6 = 216
So 7 x 7 x 7 = 343

1. Sum of 2 numbers is 97: formula x + y = 97
Difference of numbers is 19: formula x - y = 19
Add the 2 formulas: 2x = 116 (y's cancel)
So, x = 58. Plug 58 into first formula, then y = 39.
Answer is larger number = 58
2. Sequence: 8, 27, 64.....Looking at numbers, 8 is the cube of 2, 27 is the cube of 3, 64 is the cube of 4...so the next number in sequence after 216 (cube of 6) is the cube of 7. 7 x 7 x 7 = 343

You can solve the first one with a system of equations.
x + y = 97
x - y = 19
Add the columns and the y values add to 0. (elimination method)
2x = 116
Divide both sides of the equation by 2.
x = 58.
Then substitute the x value to find y.
58 + y = 97
y = 39.
The second is a series of cubed numbers. (Always memorize squared and cubed numbers; saves you so much stress later.)
8 = 2^3
27 = 3^3
64 = 4^3
125 = 5^3
216 = 6^3
343 = 7^3
8, 27, 64, 125, 216, 343.....

2x+19=97
-19 = -19
2x=78
2x/2=78/2
x = 39
If the low number is 39 then the high number is 39 + 19 which is 58
Question 2. 343 is next because it is the cube of 7. cube of 2 is 8, cube of 3 is 27, and so on...

1. 58 + 39 = 97 I just experimented with different numbers.
2. 343 would be next but don't ask me to explain it! I just fiddle around with the numbers

1. I think it is 78. because 97 minus 19 equals 78 (the "difference" means subtract) and I think the sum is (adding) as for question 2.
not a frickin clue
