Hard to say, but it could be brumation (turtle hibernation). The only way to tell the difference is to take him to your vet. If you search through resolved questions, I gave a lengthy explanation to another poster last week about how to care for him during this time

Check out more info on
http://happyturtle.ms11.net/
http://invisionfree.com/forums/Happy_Turtles_Pub/
and www.turtletimes.com/Forums

The turtle specialist there have lots of info on diagnosising problems Especially the happy turtle site. The Turtle pub is a very active turtle forum where you can post health questions and get a reply very quickly.

Generally if your turtle doesn't eat there is a problem, except when they are hibernating as someone else wrote. Our false map eats considerably less this time of year. Is the temp low where you are?

Also watch to see if he is primarily basking while he sleeps, and if you notice any visible differences in his shell or on his body. If you don't he is most likely hibernating i would guess but check the above forum for sure, they are the experts not me :)

when did you get your turtle? if you just got it then probably its just getting used to the environment. give it about a week, turtles can go for days with out food then check up on it then. if its still doing it again then go to the vet
