You really can't ever feel your baby's heartbeat just by putting your hand on your belly. Even when you are almost 40 weeks pregnant, it is rare that you will feel the baby's heart beat - though it isn't impossible very late in the pregnancy.
What you're probably feeling is your own heartbeat. Blood supply to your belly (to the baby) is concentrated in your belly area so you are feeling it. As you progress in your pregnangy (about 30 weeks), you will sometimes feel what feels like a heartbeat but it's usually the baby hiccuping.

No your feeling your own heart beat, most doctors cannot find a heart beat untill approx 9 weeks or so and thats with a super sensitive, ultrasound.
At 8 weeks things are just strating up, I am also almost at 8 week (7 and a half) The only sign of baby I get is loads of peeing, headaches, and constant vomiting and feeling tired hahahhah
Best of luck with yoru bub it's an exciting time, and we are constantly looking for signs from the bub, it's more than normal for you to ask us this question.

No. I would think that it is your own heartbeat.
Most doctors would have a hard time finding the baby's heartbeat at 8 weeks with a Doppler.

No, You can't feel you baby's heartbeat even at 9 months. Too much stuff in between, fluid, muscle, skin, tissue, etc. That's your heartbeat you feel.

When I was a child, I used to think I had 2 hearts as a result of this phenomenon... until my mother informed me that it was in fact my hepatic artery.

yes, congratulations, but it also possible that it is your own...because there is a pulse in your stomach that you cannot normally feel unless you are pressing hard on it.
