It is not "illegal". To say that something is illegal is to imply that it is against the law. If you use their logo without their permission, you're not going to to be criminally charged. It is, however a trademark (not copyright) infringement for which you can be sued, and for which the court will award damages to the owner of the trademark. That's if you get caught.

The team logos are copyrighted, so if you want to use them, you have to have permission. If you use them without permission, and they find out, they can sue you.
