How do I get motivated to do anything? I slog around and go to work and don't really do much except drink diet Pepsi. At home I just watch the TV and am unmotivated, not even interested in sex that much. Me: 42, married, good job, house, nice wife, I'm not overweight, I don't drink booze, I take antidepressants, I spend all my money on bills

Perhaps you should get on some different anti-depressents. They could be the source of your lack of motivation or simply aren't working as good as they should.
Besides that, the only person that can motivate you is you... What are your interests? For one full month make it a point to change EVERYTHING that you do. Simply tell yourself that you will not sit in front of the television or you will go someplace that you've never gone before (even if it means a play or bowling etc.)
Buy yourself some motivational tapes and books.

I'm with you man. 42 and counting. Jimmy Buffett once said something about growing old but not growing up. Everytime I get into one of those funks I make some changes or just go on a Tequila bender. A couple years ago I took off to Reno with a few friends for a long weekend. Serious times call for serious measures.

Go out and buy something that you don't need. You're wife probably does all the time. I know mine does. I just bought a an ATV and ride it in my yard and up and down the street. All my neighbors think I'm nuts.

If that doesn't work, start drinking and/or gambling and get off the anti depressants. Get off your *** and act like a man. Take control of your life and fight back.

By the way, just because a job pays well it doesn't mean it's "good".

Wow. You take antidepressants, but you sound like you're depressed. How long has it been since you've been to the doctor for a med check? Maybe you need something new, or something a little different. As for spending all your money on bills, obviously you aren't alone. Maybe there are ways to reorganize where your money goes. Cut back on one thing to free up funds for another. Try exercise. You'd be surprised at how much energy it can give you. And it can be a great help to depression too. Does your wife exercise? Join her. Take a brisk walk every day. Buy a book on yoga or another form of exercise you can do at home without spending money. Get out your bike, if you have one, and start riding. Walk the dog. The more you move, the more you want to keep moving.

Ask yourself...what really matters to you?...what is more important to you than anything?...what things do you enjoyt doing more than anything...what would you rather be doing with your life?...what would you like your life to be like 10 years from now?...when you die, what do you hope people say about you?

You need to be doing something different, something you really care about. If you do that, you'll discover you don't have a motivation problem. You might even change your attitude about sex.
