i know apple yields nothing but crap, but i'd like to know the ultimate species, perhaps something that can be cloned, regrown, or at least cultured. by the way, is that even possible?

the last experieriment i did used acne medication as alcohol, common NaCl, contact lense solution for the enzymes, dish detergent to strip the lipids, and so forth.

SO, that said, what is a household product with the highest concentration level of ethyl alcohol (ethanol)?

Bananas work great. Frozen peas work great too (yes I am aware that peas are not a fruit).

I've done the same lab using rubbing alcohol instead of acne medicine and meat tenderizer instead of contact lens solution. Much cheaper.

Protocols i've got constantly used interior the lab for the preperation of chromosomal DNA have called for using isopropyl alcohol. To be trustworthy, i do no longer think of that it truly concerns. in case you utilize ethanol or isopropyl, you will nonetheless get the DNA out. And assuming that there are no downstream applications (sequencing or cloning some genes or regardless of) the yield isn't a controversy as long as you get sufficient for the scholars to work out that it truly works, spectacular?

When I was a TA (teaching assistant) for this bio-lab class, we used onion ... I know it's not exactly fruit but it yields so much DNA. We can pull the DNA strand using glass rod!!
