A composite deck because stone patios tend to attract snakes because of the radiant heat (especially in the spring) and I am NOT a fan of them.

I would prefer the cobblestones. In between the cracks, I can put creeping thyme and it would grow well there. Most cobblestones are also all natural stone, but you can get them pre-fab. I guess it depends on how you want your backyard to look. I prefer the more organic look, with things creeping out all over the place. Nothing is set perfect and kept in trim. I have blooms and produce all over, both climbing and creeping. Its just my style.
The composite deck will last a long time, but its not a natural material and that would clash with everything I have.
Perhaps, it would be better if you determine your style first, because all things coming afterwards could be easily chosen.

although a composite deck will last ten times longer I would rather have a cobblestone patio. They are so much better looking and give your home a more classy look.

I know what Gnometomes means. I hate snakes and will probably dream about them tonight since I have answered this question.

If you live in an area where those critters aren't a problem, a cobblestone patio will be beautiful. The colors can vary, and you can plant small, fragrant plants or herbs between the stones.

A cobblestone patio is much more beautiful, in my opinion. However, they are entirely too difficult to sweep or clean. The composite deck is easy to care for. It just depends upon your lifestyle & what works best for you---beauty or ease in cleaning?

Cobblestone Patio - I think it will have a longer life span.

Composite deck; just a personal choice. No other reason.

I live in the country and am an avid gardener...I have learned to live with rattlesnakes and coral snakes everywhere (I can readily kill them, too)........please go with the look of cobblestone...you can plant thyme in between.............oh how pretty!!

I think that it depends on what your house looks like, but I'd go with the deck cuz they're easier to clean.
