Inline booster pump.

However, the problem may not be simply a matter of increasing flow. There may be a system design problem.

The first thing to find out is if the flow is the same in all parts of the building. Second if there is a variation, does it degrade at the same points in the building on each floor or does flow reduce as you go up each floor.

Once the areas of a building are isolated as having a problem, a professional mechanical/plumbing contractor can find the source of the problem and go from there.

It could be as simple as the main pump failing or complex (buildup of minerals in pipes) or a number of other potential probs. Either way, it will probably take a pro to fix properly.

Mechanical systems are not something to mess with. To the average person, these systems can work very different than you might expect. These systems use a variety of valves and controls not commonly found in home systems.

Depends on if you are wanting to improvethe pressure, volume, or both. If its just more pressure you want, a booster pump can be installed onto existing pipes. If you want more volume, the only way to improve this is to run larger piping. This is a common problem in older buildings. alot of the problem is caused by the planning that was done back when the buildings wrer built. Years ago there wernt as many people drawing on the supply line and as more and more people tapped in, the volume and pressure sometimes are affrected. Another theory is that the height of the building has to be compensated for in the planning and pipes are oversized to accomidate. The higher the water has to go the more pressure loss there is. There is actually a buch of mathmatics to figure for this. The current building codes in place usually are overdone for the bare minimum to make sure that this is not a problem.
