The Best Way is to step up at a large family gathering, and declare "Listen up, everybody, I have some serious news. I have been diagnosed with Lung Cancer, and the Doctor says, I only have a 50% chance of surving another 12 months." Then, when everyone gets all serious, and sullen, tell them, "I'm only kidding, I'm just gay."

What is your general read on your mom - do you think she'll accept you regardless? throw you out?
The reason I ask is because you may need to consider timing. If you're 14 and think that she'll throw you out of the house, it would obviously be better to wait until you're on your own and able to care for yourself.
You might want to contact PFLAG to learn more about how to do this. Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays. Look them up online and you can call and talk with them about what to do and how to do it.
If you think mom might be okay with it, but want to sort of test the ground, you might tell her you have a friend who is bisexual and ask her her opinion of it. You could also see if your school has a GSA club - Gay Straight Alliance. They may help you sort through all this.
