I am planning on getting training in that field and just wanted to know if someone had experience in it and can tell me a little about it.

My gf's mother is and I've never heard her complain about it. Though, on the plus side, she knows where to go for the best doctors...lol.

I've been a medical transcriptionist for 18 years and I love it!!!

I work for a major hospital in Michigan. I have worked for transcription services in the past but the money isn't nearly as good, and production houses pay per line, so you really have to be FAST to make decent money; and the benefits are better if you work for a hospital. These are things to consider when getting into this field.

Also, as a medical transcriptionist, I get to work from home, which is really an added bonus.

I am not a full-time perm. medical transcriptionist but it is involved in my daily activities. YOu must be a very patient person to do this, there are hundreds of thousands of terms that you will be learning, the level of difficulty once you enter the career world will depend on the accent of the person you will be transcribing for. It's an interesting job, as no two consults/reports or anything is ever the same but you should try it our if at all possible before getting any official training in it. Good luck!
