Which library did you go to? Did you check your school library?
If so, and the books are out there- go to your local public library.
If the books are out from the public library, as the staff to show you some reference books on the subject. You can photocopy what you need from there. Be sure to get the information from the TITLE PAGE and the other side - called the VERSO. The Verso has the copyright information. (This is for your bibliography- when you have to tell the teacher which sources you used in writing your paper).
Another suggestion would be check the books on general American history. Look in the index for Salem Witch Trials. There may be some references to the trials - enough for your paper. Do the same thing with the history book as I suggested above (getting the info from the title page, etc.)
Good luck.

try the Internet. Put in Salem Witch Trials and see what you get. Also go back to the library and see if they have a system that enables you to look for a topic in periodicals. Don't spend too long doing this. It is better to write an essay with one source than to write no essay at all.

Get a ride to Barnes & Noble. Get a loan from you mom/dad and buy the book. After you are done with the book, return it. They'll give you your money back as long as the book isn't damaged and it hasn't been 30 days since you bought the book. Also, you can try your public library. Have you thought about using the Internet? If so, there are plenty of scholarly journals you can find online. Good luck!

did you try both the school AND public library? Or possibly another library nearby? I guess you could always buy the book... try a second hand bookstore.

Try another library, or a bookstore. Best wishes to you on your essay, but now I'm going to say something that you already know...next time, don't leave it to the last minute! (Sorry, I'm a mom.)

what about online books... find a reputable online book website and "check it out" for a few hours. Ask your teacher if it's okay....
