Detroit Michigan is the American Auto hub of the U S. There for many people who live there are very loyal to American auto builders because they are employed by them. They see as a threat to their lively hood the importing into and the sell of and purchase of foreign cars. Michigan is not the only state and the car industry is not the only American producer that feels this way. Steel workers, Garment makers, High tec producers, an food growers and suppliers are all trying to compete in a very volatile world market.

No, that's untrue. I'm not from there, but my husband is and people i know don't act that way. But i can understand why that misconception might arise. in Michigan lies Detroit, the world's original "Motown". Michigan's economy is highly dependent on the Big Three, ie, GM, Ford and Chrysler. these companies hire a lot of the state's population, hence people are dependent on the survival of these companies for their jobs. If you've noticed recently, Ford had a highly-publicised retrenchment/ voluntary retirement exercise. So, there's probably the notion that Michiganders hate others who drive non-US cars, contributing to low sales and retrenchment.

A lot of people would hate you more you if you drove an un-American car. But, I'm not sure what that would be. What would happen if you drove a non-American car into Canada from Michigan? Would they hate you there too, or is this a regional phenomena?

I live in Michigan and drive a Nissan, no one has ever said a word to me and I have owned it for 7 years. Generally people that are members of the UAW dont own Imports.

What is an American car anymore? Can any car maker say that their product is 100% American made, no. I'd say no worries, drive what you want.

no longer each and every motor vehicle.. because the toddlers are extra effective on gas. yet SUV's are undesirable on gas. i imagine variety Rovers and Escalade autos are the worst on gas, their terrible. properly I actually have a truck because I surf and that's extra reachable to easily throw my surf board contained in the mattress of a truck. and that i like SUV's extra effective commonly.
