A black suit will always look more professional. Add a splash of color. Sure J. Cash pulled it off, but he was the "man in black". You can do it with a color tie or a color shirt. Not too much, just a pinch. It looks very nice, sophisticated, and edgy at the same time.

Depends on the job, but as a rule a man should look very professional when interviewing. Black is a power color, too. Make sure his belt and shoes match, and the shoes are clean and polished. Dress shirts should fit well around the neck, the tie should be neat and clean. Run a lint brush over him before he leaves the house and remind him to take a hanger with him - he shouldn't drive in his suit jacket and should hang it up in backseat area.

No, but it really depends on the job in question. If the job is in food service, or manufacturing, the suit could be overkill. However, for most office jobs, it's perfectly appropriate.

In general, try to dress a notch or two better than current employees at that location/position.

No. You've got to put your best foot forward for a job interview. Show them you clean up real good and this is how you dress for an interview.

a suit is fine, and like everyone else said it depends on the job and Dress for Success.

Depends on the job he is interviewing for, but I would say no it's not, as long as its not a manual labor type of job. Then I would suggest not overdressing for it, but dressy casual is fine for those kinds of jobs.

Not unless he's going to a construction site. The suit sounds fine.

If your interviewing for a fry guy at McDonalds, then maybe so! Otherwise, dress for success! You have to portray success to get success! good luck with the interview

New is great - it will give you loads of confidence if you are wearing something new, and you will look fantastic. you could give it some brightness with a colourful tie too...(not red though as that is not good for interviews - red=anger).

Good luck with your interview.
