I think what employees did before being required to take a drug test has no relevancy to their possible job performance upon being hired. If the employer trusts the employee to do a good job while on the job, as long as the employee does not show up to work noticeably intoxicated or on drugs, then there is no problem, and what the employee does in their private time is of no relevance to their employer. Of course, the employee accepts whatever consequences might arise from excessive alcohol and drug use, including criminal charges.
I do feel pre-employment drug testing for positions such as police, driving, branches of the military, Department of Defense, and the various Intelligence Agencies is valid.

I think its a invasion of privacy. How is it that they can test you and hold against you substances such as pot, that is legal for use in Alaska, which is part of the US last time I knew, but yet its not legal for use in the lower 48, what gives? How can it be legal to use in ONE state and not the others.Think of all the income the states could generate if this phony war on drugs ( which they are not winning, and at a very great cost both in money and the needless damage caused by over zealous enforcement) was stopped and the substance legalized and taxed like alcohol .

I think it stinks? So many things can make your read a false positive on a drug test.
I think it is important for people like police, fire, abulance people, but I think the pre-employment drug test got carried away to many jobs.

I think it is necessary. Drug dependency can lead to calling out from work, no call/no show, theft, and violence on the work site.

Yes...of course it's necessary....who wants a drug addict working for them? What would happen if they were on drugs and fell....then sued the company....and got to keep their job because they belonged to a union......

If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear. Don't break the law, don't worry.
