If the hardware is set up properly like the guys above have said then are you trying to burn a DVD or a CD? If its a DVD you will need to decrypt the data on the disc before you can use use Nero to write the disc. Nero will not always burn copy protected discs. Try using DVD decrypter to rip the disc, then if it is a 2 layer disc you will need to shrink the disc image. I use DVD Shrink, but there are other programs you can use. Once that is completed then you can write the image onto a disc, I use Imgburn to do this. There are programs out there that will do multiple steps for you, but you have to be sure you use a program that will break the encryptions on the disc.

Untick the "simulation" box when you burn the disc. This wastes time and makes the app unstable - this is causing the error.

Some other issues can cause the "DMA-driver error, CRC error":

Bad disc brand, try using a different type or + instead of - or vice versa.
Bad IDE cable
Bad IDE controller

P.S Do not listen to the person below, Pioneer and LG drives are just as prone.

Get rid of your NEC Writer and try
an LG / Pioneer 111 / Samsung or Liteon

Make sure you have an 80 pin cable connected to the drive and NOT a 40 pin cable otherwise you get all sorts of problems.

Make sure your are not running it on the same channel as the primary hard drive

ReInstall you Adaptec drivers

Use Ritek, Ridata or Traxdata minus discs

Hope this helps

BTW its not a celeron processor is it ?

Like jobo says also slow the burn rate down it may well be over running the buffers.better still look for imgburn on www.downloads .com much better than nero.

sounds like a driver problem, any other software other than nero?
