No, I think it is ridiculous. I never ever say Holiday. I am a christian living in a country founded on Christian beliefs. I am not offended by any other holiday any other religion wants to celebrate but Ill be damned if they are taking away mine.

Who said nonchristians would be offended. They haven't in the past. Most nonchristians celebrate the holiday just like Christians - they take the day off and exchange gifts. Everyone is trying so hard to be "politically correct". Say what you like and be done with it. If someone is offend, who cares. Call it like it is.
If someone is so concerned about offending nonchristians, then why aren't they concerned about offending Christians when they refuse to say Christmas. Doesn't make much sense.

Given that there's more than one holiday that time of year (from Thanksgiving -- at least in the US, which opens the holiday season -- to New Years), and that not everyone celebrates Christmas, yes, I think it makes more sense to use the more general expressions.
What I don't think is right is for people to invent a bogus "War on Christmas" and work themselves into a frenzy over their imaginary war.
I also don't think it's right for each person who thinks like you do to post YET ANOTHER FRIGGIN' QUESTION on this topic, rather than reading the several thousand other incarnations, and the several gazillion answers it's been given on this site before.
At least give it a rest until the next holiday season.
edit: Oh, and you've got the reason wrong. Businesses use it because atheist, Jewish, and Hindu money are all green, and they don't want to alienate people who would give them money. Everyone else who says it does so because it's MORE ACCURATE.
The site Guideline that prohibits insulting other participants forbids me to say more.

Its called Christmas, therefore I think they should go ahead and say that. Personally I think its VERY easy to celebrate christmas without bringing religion into it. Therefore it shouldn't offend anyone. Santa Clause, Rudolph, Frosty the snowman... none of that stuff is religious.
If you don't celebrate it, thats fine. You don't have to. But, you can't just change the name of the holiday because you don't.

Of course it is right. Christians are all such loving, tolerant, forgiving people they would never be offended by something so trivial.
Jennifer - I do not know what country you were brought up in, but America was certainly not founded on Christian beliefs; few if any of our founding fathers were Christians, certainly by your standards (I suggest you read up on that if you have any doubts).
I also find you use the term "I'll be damned" pretty loosely for a Christian, and think many of your fellow Christians would prefer you not to.

Let them say whatever they are comfortable with. I am Christian and would not be offended if someone wished me a Happy Hanukkah or Kwanzaa. I am diverse enough in my thinking to know that it is not offensive. I'm tired of all the "political correctness".

I personally think if you say Christmas to someone they too need to be tollerant. I personally think the worrying about offending people is silly and that people need to just respect others beliefs.

There's nothing wrong with saying 'Happy Holidays' in itself, but there's everything wrong with that *reason* for doing so. You should use whatever greeting *you* want; and if people decide to be offended by goodwill, the heck with them.

i'm Jewish and that i stay contained in the South. human beings want me "Merry Christmas" each and every of the time in the course of the vacation journeys, because they merely assume that i'm Christian. that is a honest assumption, because maximum everybody is Christian, yet u.s. is a diverse usa and that i do not imagine we ought to continuously merely assume that each and every one everybody is like us. "vacation" has develop into synonymous with "Christmas", which merely isn't correct.
