What does being a Crosby fan have to do with how fast Ovechkin was going? That doesn't make sense to me...
As for your question, I think that the stop wathces there were off on everyones times. Most of them seemed to be faster than they were clocked.

I think the electric timer would've been more accurate, I think he was faster. Not as fast as Mcdonald or Marleau. Ovechkin was definetly in the 14s.
His skating style was really strange though. He was like slamming his feet against the ice in a way. It was really choppy. I'm sure he knows more then me, hes a pro. But it definetly did not look like a quick skating style.

Ovechkin was fast no doubt...but around the first turn it seemed like it took him forever to get around it.

he was not. i think the time was as close as you're gonna get. he just worked hard, and toook short steps. thats why it seemed he looked faster. but the smooth skaters, it doesnt seem like they work, but man, they fly. its just an illusion.

On his cross turns, he looked like he was running at times, not skating

you are 100% right. I don;t know if he won for sure, but he sure looked a LOT faster than they gave him credit for.
