I got pregant and had a successful birth at 5'9" and over 300 pounds. Not optimal, but not really a problem, either. Everyone can have problems during pregancy and there are increased risks if you are overweight. Just as there are increased risks if you are diabetic, older, etc. Just make sure you get lots of folic acid starting 3 months or more before getting pregnant. Overweight women need more and you don't need an increased risk of birth defects.
I love the site I listed in Sources.

Ok first of all being overweight DOES NOT cause miscarriages..It may be a little harder to fall pregnant though..Now would be the best time to shed some weight before you start trying..You are more at risk of some things such as gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, having a larger baby..
Dont let anyone put you down though..If you happen to get pregnant soon just eat right and cut out sugars and stuff like that..Your doctor will monitor your weight anyway..
Best of Luck :)

Well I am 5 foot and weighed 190 when i got pregnant with my third child... i was told that it is fine.. just not to gain more than about 15Ibs or so with this pregnancy. You might be at risk for diabetes.. .might is the key word.. so far i have not had anything go wrong and have not had any problems with this pregnancy. And I am 26 weeks prego. And for miscarriages.. no you are not more at risk for a miscarriage. My doc told me prior to me getting pregnant that I would fine.. just go to your doc and do a physical prior to trying though.. that way the doc can tell you what to expect and stuff. But best of luck... and oh by the way sometimes it is harder for heavier women to conceive.. so you and hubby might be trying for a couple of months before you actually do... so talk to the doc about that also

I am overweight and 21 weeks pregnant and my doctor just recently told me that I needed to put on weight because I hadn't gained any in my pregnancy I had actually lost 4 pounds she monitors me like normal and hasn't seems worried about anything. Of course you have a risk of all kinds of things going wrong just treat your body right during the pregnancy and congrats.

There are some risks to having a child while over weight, but I have two cousins who are more overweight than you are. One has had two healthy girls, and the other one healthy girl. I wouldn't be too concerned. A lot of women have children when they are over weight. You may want to talk to your doctor about it also. Good Luck!!!

No Not really, but I was very overweight when I gave birth last year, I had a few problems but my baby and I are just fine now. I had high blood pressure and gestational diabetes and underactive thyroid, but it all went away after my son was born.
Oh yeah and the back pain..........horrible but only when my son really started getting heavy. He was 10.5 pounds by the way. It had to do with the gestational diabetes, which you would be at high risk for.

I think pregnancy can cause problems no matter what your weight. The fact that you've had two kids already and no problems big enough to make you stop at two, I'd say go for it. You probably won't gain as much weight this time around, and you can always take it off later, when you're "out of production".

You are at higher risk for health problems like gestational diabetes, and more pron to harder wear and tear on the body but as long as you are responsible about eating habits etc. when you are pregnant, overweight people get pregnant all the time. I was overweight with my first child and my specialist explained to me that I couldn't gain the standard 20-30lbs because it was not necessary. (only gained 13lbs) He also told me that as long as I was physically fit to carry the child it was ok.
Just talk it out with your Dr. get his/her feelings and suggestions.

My neighbor was very overweight when she was pregnant the last time. The baby was fine, but the pregnancy caused her horrible back problems.....I'd try to get a little weight off before you try again...

I don't think being overweight will effect your pregnancy. Seeing as you are a little overweight (like most people are), you can talk to your doctor and see what you can do during your pregnancy to help you become healthier.
