Yes, just like Toyota's and Honda's, Mazda's are Japanese made and are as reliable as those other two car manufacturer's. They are absolutely way better than Korean cars. Here in the Philippines where 10 year old cars and more vintage ones are common, you will see old Mazda 323's and 626's still running the harsh roads and horrible traffic in Manila.I say go for it. Im driving a Mazda 3 and enjoying every minute of it.

I own a mazda 6 for 2 yrs now and I love it. NO buyers remorse here. I purchaced the 7yr/160,000KM extended warentee. well worth it.
The 3's are a great car. and reliable too. but I just heared that there is a way criminals have figured out to brak into the 3's without braking the glass ect. Mazda is impementing a fix and helping those who have been effected so far. (article below)
Dont let that deter you as a mazda is a great car company.
Another report (secont link) I am happy to say lists Mazda at #1 ABOVE honda and toyota for vehicle reliability (Least likely of developing mechanical failure) of cars that are 3-9 years old.

There very realiable vehicle. Like every brand they have had problems with certain model, like the RX8 and five years ago the millenium. But the mazda 3 has best best car under 18k by kelly blue book. The mazda 6 has held most satified buyers for 3 years running. From all the peliminary info the cx7 and the cx9 will be perhaps the best vehicle and all time great sellers.
What I like about mazda versus the other products is not just in how well the handle but that you can get the options you want without having them all packaged up into model number. this way you can pay for the options that are important to you and not have to pay for a bunch a things that dont mean squat. It BMW treatment on a shoestring budget.

In my opinion Mazda makes great cars. I have owned three Mazda Miata's so far ( 1997, 1999, and 2003) and have NEVER had a problem with any of them. The only thing you need to do is make sure the oil and filter are changed often and drive the wheels off them. I agree with you that Toyota is a very reliable car but Mazda has that Zoom-Zoom going for it. Test drive one and you will be hooked. Good Luck!!

RE:
Are Mazda's good cars?
I want to purchase a new Honda Civic, but they're just so damn expensive. Now I'm looking at the new Mazda 3's. I'm partial to Honda and Toyota for their reliability. Are Mazda's reliable cars that will last long like Hondas and Toyotas?

i would say yes 90 percent of the time. pick any model but Rx-7 Rx-8...Rx3,Ive had a couple Rx7s ,have a 94 in garage right now that needs a fresh engine.Ford bought Mazda so my 2005 Mazda 6 has a ford duratec 6 cylinder engine block in it.Mazda completely re-engineered that so it revs higher with more hp. Ive got 39,000,000 miles on it and i beat it like i stole it every chance i get:)Ive had no problems except i need new front brakes and tires all around. most of Mazda's cars are bullet proof and on top of that they're fun driving.

Got my Mazda (10) years ago & love it. Have not had any reparirs except a new battery. I ll have a few now but as I said, "It s ten yrs old." I take good care of it and don t drive as much as some. I do have some rust starting and now they ll rust proof the car as I understand it. Probably I should have put those flaps on the back wheels to not have rust? I especially like the "Mazda Service." They re thorough, honest, and polite. This is a big factor in buying a car.

I think Mazdas are as good as Hondas and toyotas when you buy them new and care for them, like any other car (besides US cars unfortunately). They all come to a point where the warrantees are the difference makers, and where options and parts are more or less cheaper.
Nissan is another Maker that is supposed to be good but they are as expensive as Honda if not more.
When it comes to buying Used cars, it's a little harder to tell, you can find a lemon in any maker. But overall Honda and Toyota have good reputation.
Dont forget Hondas because of that reputations are number in auto thefts.
