2 gamertags for xbox live??

Question

If I buy the 12 Month Xbox Live Starter Kit for the original xbox, and I create a gamertag name. Then, If I decide to create a 2nd gamertag, do I have to buy another Starter Kit, or do I get my payment doubled, or does nothing happen at all? Im asking this cause, my bro and I are getting xbox live and we want to know if we have to play our xbox live games on the same account or not. Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just like that other guy said, your bro can play as a guest for free except he can't use a mic. Note: only some games allow you to have a guest, other games are different. In halo 2, you could have a guest with you ( you could have 3 guests as a matter of fact), but you can't do ranked matches, only unranked matches ( like team training for example ) or custom games. If you want to do ranked matches with your bro, you need another account and you have to pay twice which is basically double. 12 month account is 50 dollars and if your bro wants his own name your gonna have to pay another 50 dollars for another 12 month account. However, some of the xbox games come with a card that has a code in it. The code enables you to play 2 months of xbox live for free. One came with halo 2, so check the case ( if you do have halo 2 ) and see if there is any card in there saying 2 month free trial of xbox live. Make sure your xbox is hooked up to xbox live, ( connect an ethernet cable from the xbox to the modem or router, which ever one you use to connect to the internet) and if you find a 2 month free trial in halo 2, then you should see a black greyish line on the back of it and scratch it off with a coin to reveal the code. Enter the code on xbox live and it will let you create a gamertag and then you have it for 2 months. Check your other xbox games to see if it has it, halo 2 isn't the only game that came with it. Mortal kombat deception and ghost recon 2 came with it also. You should check those two if you have those games. If you don't have any 2 month free trial cards, then your going to have to purchase them at the store. Gamestop is a good example where you could get the gamertags. Anyways, some games only support one gamertag ( no guests either ), but others support more than one gamertag. Not that many games let you play 2+ players on xbox live on a single xbox, but halo2 is one of the few games that lets you play up to 4 players on a single xbox online. Its better to have 2 gamertags, but its going to cost extra bucks, while your bro could play as a guest for free. The advantages of having a gamertag over being a guest ( according to halo2 ) is that you have your own name, you could play ranked matches , and you could use a mic. You can't use a mic as a matter of fact in any game if you are a guest. If you don't mind spending the extra bucks so your bro could have his own account and could talk on xbox live, then go for it. But if you are the type of person who struggles with money, then just get one account and you guys could share the same gamertag at the same time for free. For example, if you make your name ''the massacre'' and you sign in first and your bro signs in second on that account, your account will be the way it originally was and your bro will have ''the massacre'' but it will have a symbol behind that name that indicates that it is a guest. Normally he can just play as your guest for free. If you each want your own name (and for both mics to work) you gotta get him a gold account, payment doubled. $50 a year isn't too bad though. Pay month by month and its like $100.
