I was but I went to a private school for grades 9-12 and the book they used for Freshman English I had used in 11th grade!

And I was thinking about studying Journalism as my major, so I loved writing. But sad to say, most college freshmen are very unprepared for the amount of writing that has to be done in their English courses.

I was. I went to the top public school in my state. Got my butt kicked around there (lots of it my own fault), and ended up at a state school that was top 50 in the country, but certainly not near the top. Since it was such a large school, I finally saw first hand how dramatic the differences were in the quality of education in this state. Classes at my high school were harder than the ones in college.

I wasn't prepared for anything. I went to a new high school that was not very challenging -- so I didn't study anything in HS. I would have graduated with honors, had I not done so miserably during my Freshman year. I had to teach myself how to study.

Fortunately, it worked.

I was NOT. My 12th grade english teacher couldn't even read and spell correctly, let alone prepare us to write papers and such. Luckily, writing is something I am good at-and aced my English papers (especially my 15 page one!).

Yes. Luckily my high school was good enough to prep me for college writing/English courses.

I was, but that is because my high school had an excellent English program, and I took both AP English exams.
