Ive considered 'Vera Ivy' too, but I think it would just get way too confusing with my mother being Vera too.
could you imagine!
'Vera!'
'Which Vera?'
'That Vera!'
'Which Vera?'
'The New Vera!'
'Ohh...That Vera!'

I guess it is ok....but to me it sounds like some kind of strange plant (like aloe vera) or a disease......ivy is a plant not a name and vera is way to old.......sounds kind of dumb to me but hey name you brat anything you want.

I love Ivy--a fresh, yet old-fashioned, name. Can't go for Vera. My husband's paternal grandmother was Vera and was the town "witch-with-a-B"! Truly the meanest person I've ever met. Sorry.

Also, I'm totally against naming babies after family members. Let the child be an individual--not tied to someone else by name. My husband was named after his father and it's been nothing but confusion and it's not that great of a name. I doubt his dad even cared whether he was named after him. I don't think it's as "big deal" of a tribute as people seem to think it is. So, on that note, go with Ivy Alyssa or some other pretty name.

Also, rearranging the letters in Vera (more or less), you could name a girl Avery--gorgeous.

Both are favorites of mine! I'm not sure about the flow of Ivy Vera though... How do you feel about two middle names? I'm usually against two middle names, but since Vera has meaning to you I won't recommend taking it out completely...

Maybe Ivy Catherine Vera?
Ivy Camille Vera
Ivy Elisabeth Vera
Ivy Josephine Vera
Ivy Diane Vera

Just some ideas, again, gorgeous name choices!!

I like the fact that you want to name a child after your mother. I have a cousin named Ivy Rose. But it kinda sounds alot like Aloe Vera or some kind of plant

I think the name is nice but as she gets older i'm pretty sure some kids will make names adn call her aloe vera. I wouldn't want that for my child but i do suggest that you could name her somthing close to Vera like Veronica Ivy. Here are som nice girl names:
Grace Vera
Loraine Vera
Rachel Vera
Chelsea Vera
Alexandria or Alexandra Vera

Hope it helps! =D

I agree with halo904. I love Ivy but Vera doesn't really go with it. If you want to honor your Mother use a name that's similar to Vera but sounds good with Ivy. Like......Ivy Venera. I don't know but I think that it's a good idea to look for names like that. Good luck!

It reminds me of the two Coronations Street soap stars Ivy Tilsley and Vera Duckworth. If your American you have no idea who they are. They are two old ladies from the north of England Ivy and Vera sorry that's what i think when i hear these names.

It is cute. I am not that crazy about the name Vera but because of the meaning, being named after your mother, I think is wonderful!

Ivy is my mum's name and it is pretty but with Ivy Vera together there are too many "v's" Doesn't roll off the tongue good.
