the color of the light is the reason .get a yellow light bulb and it wont atract insects
get a blue or green light and its covered in insects
a normal white light is avarage atraction,

They only fly towards a light when most of their surroundings is dark. During the day, light comes from the whole sky so they don't want to fly to the sun. There is enough light on them already.

they do not do this during the day
during the night - then they will fly around the source of lights until they get killed
