there is no substitute for the nurturing value a stay-at-home mother can have on a young child aged 0-4. i certainly benefited from that.
as far as preference? well, it really depends on financial situation and/or wants and needs of the mother involved. the decision as to whether the mom, dad, or both, go to work, should be a joint family decision.. not something based on the male's preference.

it depends on the man, you can't answer that question, that's like asking do men prefer blonde's, well my husband likes brown hair, stay at home moms, you have to ask each man, I don't like grapes but i bet other woman do

i think more would prefere a stay at home, but economic just don't allow it if you want a good sized house nice neighborhood & nice stuff, etc...
