Shamatha Meditation. Practice 15 - 20 min. a

day. A long time ago, I use to have a fear, and

anxiety being around people, especially those

who were critical, negative, and judgmental.

I learned to practice The Mindfulness of

Breathing AND especially Shamatha Meditation.

I practice both still 20 min a day.

After a few months of the practice of these

two types of meditation, I NO longer had fears,

worries, anxiety, apprehension, or uncomfort-

albe thoughts or feelings around anyone, even

those who judge me harshly. I have learned

to practice patience, tolerance, and accept-

ance toward all people. Those type of Medita-

tion honestly really do help alot. And a person

does not have to buy any books, why should

we when we have the internet to look things

up on, to learn from, and to begin to practice it

Mindfulness of Breathing is a good, simple

place to start to erradicate anxiousness. It

produces a calm, peacefulness, to get one

ready to practice Shamatha Meditation.

Lovingkindness Meditation Helps Alot also.

That would depend on your specific fear. Are you afraid of crowds? leaving the house? only certain people?

If you fear keeps you from participating in "normal" everyday activities, i.e. shopping, working, socializing, I would suggest seeing a counselor/therapist and talking to them about your concerns.

Spend time around small groups at first. Family gatherings etc. then move on to larger groups that you are less familiar over time. The main idea is to get out there and start doing something about it.
