I just read that this bill didn't pass in the senate. I know this was one of their main priorities. I was just wondering. Are the Democrats going to keep up on their promises, or is this just something they are doing to win the elections in '08?

the thing people don't understand about what will happen if you raise the minimum wage is that people will have to get fired, all these employers aren't going to be able to afford to give all there employee's a raise, so they will have to lay people off, i do think we need the minimum wage raised, but not as high as the democrats want it to be, people will lose jobs

At least the Dems did not literally steal the election by altering the counts but George Bush did.
And I agree that the Dems won't be able to get anything done either but at least they can stop the Repugs from doing anymore damage. Maybe just maybe there is a decent checks and balances in play.

I would imagine the poor ones with jobs at Wal-Mart, McDonald's, etc. are less than thrilled. Congress never seems to mind giving themselves a raise every term...whether it's the GOP or the Dems running the show.

The liberals don't care one way or the other. If it had passed, they would take credit for it. Since it didn't, they will blame the big, mean corporations and their ultra-right lackeys.
