I have a fish tank that I want to get rid of. Problem is, there is fish in it. About 7. How can I humanely get rid of it?

Find a freecycle group http://www.freecycle.org and "offer" them. You could also put an ad up on craigslist.com (for your area) and I'm sure someone would take them. I'm always looking for free fish for my kids tank!

Most smaller fish stores, i.e. not Petco and Petsmart will take the fish back if you don't charge them anything. Or try www.craigslist.com to get rid of the fish and the tank.

How do you humanely "get rid" of a cat, dog, rabbit, snake or child? You find a home for it. Why do you suppose a fish is any less important or alive? Find your local aquarium society, I'm positive they'll buy them or adopt them. SOME pet stores will take them. Or you could find homes for them yourself or sell them on the internet.

Why not ask a local school if they would like it? My ex was a science teacher and he had fish and mice in his classroom for the kids to take care of.

Take them to a fish store. They will take them. Just let them know that you didn't want them anymore and didn't want them to die.

Please write what types of fish they are, and dont kill them, sell them or give them to a fish store. I had one lake malawi melonochromis aratus cichlid I got w/ my nieghbors tank and we gave it to a petsore called animal attraction. Also, how can u have about 7 fish??????

Put an ad in Craigslist that you are giving away your aquarium and fish. Aquarists LOVE to find ads like that. But, please, please, please give them away vs. ANY other method of painful, death-oriented riddance.
