The Russian Federation stretches across much of the north of the supercontinent of Eurasia- so the extreame western areas are in Eastern Europe whilst a larger proportion of the country spreads over the Middle East and Asia.
Most of the land consists of vast plains, both in the European part and the part of Asian territory, that is largely known as Siberia

Western part of Russia is Europe, eastern part is Asia. It's divided by Ural Mountains.

I believe it falls in both spheres, western Russia is in eastern Europe while the majority of the country falls in Asia.

Well my girlfriend is from Omsk, which is in Siberia. When I ask her where Russia is, she says in between. When I ask her where Omsk is, she says Asia. This is correct. So where is Russia, technically mostly in Asia, but as a language definately Indo-European and they are a Christian country, Churchill said something about Russia being a secret wrapped in an enigma inside of a mystery (the order might be off, but you get the idea). It's a difficult country to figure out, with a lot of similarities to the United States believe it or not. And of all the countries each of us has fought, we've never gone to war with each other. So where is Russia? In the heart of all Russians, not matter where they are.

technically it is on the Eurasia landmass but I would say in ethnicity, language, culture and demeanor it is generally closer to Europe than to Asia. Then again, Russia is REALLY big so it depends on how and where you look. I've only been to Moscow, st. Petersburg and Khabarovsk.

Both. Russian lands to the west of the Ural Mountains are considered European, and to the east of the Urals, it is considered Asian. Therefore, Russia is mostly Asian, but most of its principal cities, including the capital Moscow, are in Europe.
