Eskimos (Inuit) live in the Northwest Territory of Canada, predominantly. The Inuit signed a land agreement with the Canadian Government to become an independent territory called Nunavut (approx. half the area of the NWT) in 1999. The capital of Nunavut is Iqaluit. Although there are towns in these territories, a great number of the people still live in igloos.
