I am almost 5 1/2 months pregnant, and when my husband and i try to be intimate, we end up having to stop because it would dry up and hurt alot. My midwife said to try a personal lubricate to see if that will help, and we have had the warming kind, but i read that it can irritate and stuff, and because one time my cervix got hurt, im afraid it will irritate it.. So is just a plain K-Y jelly form safe to use, like it says on the bottles?? Any other recommendations? thanks!

Yes, KY is the perfect solution because it is water-based and non-irritating. This is what is used when you have a pelvic exam.

Don't use Vaseline because it is petroleum based, and don't use saliva because it may contain bacteria which can cause an infection.

Regular KY is ok. I never liked the warming kind much.....but I have found a new love in Astroglide!!!! That stuff is amazing. My husband and I swear by it!

I had the same problem with dryness during my first pregnancy. K-Y jelly is safe to use.

Any water-based lubricant (like KY) is totally safe. Just avoid the flavored, scented, warming, ect. ones.

Plain KY is good but Wet is better - you have to get it at an adult store but it works so much better and is very gentle and not at all sticky like KY.Wet is so close to your natural feel you will like it!

it could be harmful but indirectly.. ive only used ky once and then i ended up with a kidney infection and couldnt eat for over a week and threw up all the time.. hopefully you dont get a kidney infection while your pregnant. that may harm the baby just for being sick.

yep its all good. your mucus plug is in place so nothing can get inside, and even so your baby is in its own sac.
