Brad and Angie's kid, britney's kids, tom and katie's daughter. Who cares? I never heard anyone caring back in the day when Tom Hanks was having kids and Mel Gibson, and Robin Williams, and all the other stars on earth whose kids we havent seen. People need to find something else to occupy their time. If you are that obsessed with babies have one of your own and you can see it 24-7.

I think regular people who obsess with celebrities forget that they are quite capable of doing the same activities as someone who may seem extraordinary. Why don't we celebrate when a regular, everyday hardworking women becomes pregnant?

Good observation...

But maybe it's because more and more celebs are having babies with each other. It's more interesting when Brad has a kid with Angelina than with a nobody and they are very much in the spotlight with their adoptions and world causes work. Plus, everyone wants to know if those two beautiful people will create a beautiful child! The Britney and K-Fed thing is just a train wreck that you can't stop watching and the kids just happen to be a part of that. The whole TomKat media spectacle got everyone talking about Tom Cruise again and it's his first bio-child (with a much younger woman) so that peaks interest. The whole Scientology factor adds another intriguing angle to the whole thing...

And yeah, fascination with celebs personal lives has gotten a little out of control, but what can you do?

Maybe people care about someone like Julia Roberts having kids because she's had a lot of bad luck in love and now she's married and having kids at a later age and after being famous for SO long, ya know? People feel that they know her and care about her as a person so they care about her kids, especially when she has twins and names them something crazy like Hazel and Phineas or whatever!

But you make an interesting point... Way to be observant.

It probably has a lot to do with the fact that after 9/11 babies became a symbol of goodness and a future. They're bright and shiny and make people feel good to see cute ones. Because their parents are famous, the babies, by extension are famous as well. They come from an exceedingly good-looking stock and are gorgeous babies. They make those obsessed with them feel good and think about the future in a pretty way, not a scary way that they might otherwise think about it.

I agree, though, that the obsession with celebrity babies has hit the ceiling and it probably needs to stop. But with all the young celebs having babies right now, the liklihood that the obsession will die down is slim-to-none.
