I don't cover my ears, but I go 'la la la!' out of nowhere all the time out of complete randomness. Or because I'm being a baby and I don't want to here somehting.

I know exactly what you mean. If I forget and leave the TV on to go into another room, and the theme tune from a soap starts that's when I do it. Otherwise I'll be singing the b****y tune all night. I switch off or over as soon as I can afterwards.

Yeah!!
When you want to hear yourself louder than anything else going on, just cover or block your ears and you can hear yourself clearer.
Also singers do this to make sure that they are singing in tune, so its not so much a bad idea unless you dont want to look really stupid. XD

Yes i do do that.. When people have to chat about random things im not interested in. Or if they won't stop trying to get their points across.. It's so annoying!

I just put on headphones and listen to music when the noise from my 4 kids gets to be too much!

If I cant walk away I do it to stop myself from hearing something said by another person!! Childish, I know, but at least it shuts the other person up!!

Yes. I gross out pretty easily (when it comes to something that sounds bloody or very painful - like if your fingernail were to get ripped from it's nailbed..shudder!) and my soon to be 11 year old daughter likes to come up with "stories'" to tell me that make me gross out, so I usually do it to her!
