oh my god, no doubt about it, Shiseido all the way!!! i've tried a bunch of curlers, including cheapo drugstore ones and the "infamous" Shu Uemura. nothing compares to Shiseido. i got a better curl, in less then 1/3 of the time. i love these so much i went back and bought another, and am planning to buy a third one for my sister.
eyelash curling, which i only discovered about a year ago, has made a bigger difference in my face and "opening up" my eyes than any other makeup product i've ever tried. but i didn't really see that until i found this curler. i use it religiously daily, and if you put me on a desert island with only 3 products, this would be one of them. :D
anyway, bottom line, there are a few products that are worth the extra investment. mascara... not so much. eyelash curler, YES!
oh, and this thing is $16 at Nordstrom.

If you replace the rubber inside, it mght be better. If not. You might want to try getting one from a Pro Makeup company like MAC. I saw one at a women's show that was plugged in and warmed up like a a curling iron (but not that hot). I would not go that far with lash curling!!!
Most makeup artists assist the curl that the lash curler makes, and smooth out the mascara with the back of their pointer finger before it dries. It might help smooth out the bend and make it curve more nicely.

if its pinching then you're not holding it correctly...and as for curling wrong you're holding it in for too long...
if you want to have a slight curve then you should pinch at the bottom of lashes for a couple of seconds and then more towards the top for another couple of seconds and cover it with mascara or if you dont use color then there are clear ones.. that will set it in...=))
P.S. Dont forget to clean and change the sponge on it..=)

Try not holding it so close to the outer corner of your eyes. Also, if you put a blow dryer on it for 3-5 seconds, it helps the curls stay longer.

that happens to me too. I just bought a curler that is straight up and down and has a soft cushion for your nose and outter lid. They come in different colors. They have them at Walmart and Target for $9.00 I love it, and it actually works better than the old kind. Good luck!

Shu Uemura's is a makeup artist favorite, it's around $18 so a little pricey but it'll last a lifetime!
