The "child" in question is older than 13, but sad deaths especially would be a problem.

I just watched this movie last weekend, and no, it's not for children. I'm eighteen, and the Pale Man scene gave me nightmares, so just think of what it would do to children! I loved this movie, it's the best movie ever, but it isn't suitable for children. There is violence and cruelty that you wouldn't want a child to see, and the fantasy scenes are scary as sin. It's not like it's downright gory or anything, but the violence is so emotional that it makes you cringe and look away more than a slasher film. Defiantly go see it if you're old enough, it marvelous, but don't take children with you. I'd say probably sixteen and up could handle it, but not younger than that.

I personally want to see this really bad! That said,it's not for children! Ebert & Roeper say it's violent and bloody and suggest not to take your children. I have a 9 year old who wants to see it, but i'm gonna check it out first. Check out the source I left to find out the details. By the way both Ebert & Roeper gave it a thumbs up!

I recently watched this movie and I will tell you flat out that it is NOT for children. There is a lot of killing, violence, and scenes that may scare younger viewers. This was an excellent film if you are looking to watch something for you or a teenager.

This movie is definitely for children. The war scenes aren't really something you would live your kids to watch. The commander-in-chief for the spanish civil war would brutally torture a few people, which is something really dark and not worth watching.

Also, as the movie says "Fairy tale for grown-ups"... that is what it is. Not for kids. Even the fairy part is just 30% of the movie.. rest 70% is all war.

It is violent and probably not suitable for children since it is rated R.
