She then listened with a doppler and detected 2 heartbeats. She then checked 3 -4 times (still 2!!) I'm not as sick, or tired or headachy as I was with my other pregnancies. I haven't even put on much weight! Can it be twins? None on my side of the family but my Mother in law lost twins - so their on my husbands side. Any advice from twin Mums?

Forgot to say - she faxed my details to the hospital for an urgent ultrasound. When I rang them they'd made the appointment for next Wednesday!! Made a private appointment for tomorrow morning!

There's good and bad news!! Had a scan this morning and unfortunately it's not twins (Aaaaah!) We were both quite disappointed. Good news is that I'm measuring bigger because I'm a month further on with a baby boy!!!!! My husband is still speechless - after 2 girls I think I am too.
Thanks everyone for your help and best wishes.

Congratulations! Twins are lots of fun. We were actually disappointed that there is only one baby with this pregnancy! It can be a rough and sometimes scary road, but its worth it! Good luck with the scan. Identicals are 100% chance so it wouldn't matter if you had twins in the family or not! Best of luck!
*forgot to add: I never measured much bigger than a singleton. In fact, most people were shocked to hear i was expecting twins. I looked barely term for one baby when I delivered at 35.3 weeks.

When I was pregnant with my twin girls when I had a doppler they said one of the heartbeats was very slow. I was sent for an immediate scan and they were both fine turned out the doppler was picking up my pulse. I had a scan at 9 weeks and knew straight away I was having twins. Good luck tomorrow... let me know how it turns out!

It sounds like you have twins! Ironically, your husband's side cannot influence you to have twins. Only a woman can inherit the gene that predisposes 2 eggs to be released in the same month to produce fraternal twins. And a man's sperm also has no bearing on whether an egg will divide to become identical twins.
Congrats on the double blessing!

i grow to be weighed at my reserving In Appointment and then in no way lower back! i do no longer think of they do it immediately now as maximum folk fluctuate in what weight they actually benefit. They comprehend sort of how plenty must be toddler and how plenty must be water etc and in case you have the comparable midwife throughout then they might word in case you have been getting extensive and then possibly locate out whats happening then? Im uncertain if it rather is staggering yet?? i don't have plenty self belief in Midwives to be common. They saved swapping my one and then no person knew what grow to be happening in spite of my notes. They instructed me the toddler grow to be measuring small and then they weren't fussy grrr!! if your no longer chuffed i might ask to talk to the Midwife in fee and pass by way of all of this along with her or no rely if it is on NHS i might put in a letter of criticism yet first of all take it up with the Midwife because of the fact its your and your little ones wellness and that must be first and finest and if your no longer happy with your care they ought to look in to that! good success with here few weeks :o)

She should have sent you in for an ultrasound - that is the best way to determine if it's twins!!! I would call back and request this ASAP.

Well, what did the midwife say? Did they order an ultrasound? If she found two heartbeats then I guess there are two!
Congrats!
